When it comes to health we should take as much as we can into our own hands. I won’t tire you with endless stories of corrupt pharmaceutical entities but rest assured they’re invested in profit 1st, and your well-being 2nd.
To add to this, we’ve been conditioned from a young age that taking medication for illness is normal and that we should be totally okay with it. Do you have depression, high blood pressure, heart disease? How about anxiety, arthritis, or almost any other kind of pain? There’s a pill for that.
There are two problems with this approach, and they are worth mentioning due to the possible severity if things take a turn for the worse.
1. Adding a medication (or set of medications) to your life has, historically, worked in the short term, and been detrimental in the long term. We see this often with SSRIs in particular; they heighten the brain’s reception of dopamine for a long time, but the effect can slowly decline overtime for a number of reasons.
2. The doctor prescribing your medication may not even know what you have. Sometimes the practitioners we visit prescribe medication that fixes what we say is wrong with us. In other words, unless extensive testing is done, their prescription is (often) only as accurate as your ability to describe your own symptoms, and this leaves us wide open to a medication that may or may not help you maintain homeostasis.
Besides all of that, people are growing discontent with their prescription drugs. They’re asking their doctors if they can eliminate them, and 70% are able to stop taking at least one of their prescriptions. It shows that we’re begging for solutions that actually alleviate our problems, rather than another prescription that doesn’t work at all.
The Natural Healer
One day I awoke from my slumber and realized that everything physical (that we see, hear, touch, taste, and smell) comes from the earth. It was a revelation for me, because up until that point I had scorned and mocked man-made structures and institutions as being “destructive,” “degenerate,” and other insults that courtesy demands I withhold from this paragraph.
I realized that even a building is made from processed minerals which are originally from the crust of the earth. I began to notice that the solution to our ailments doesn’t lie in further domination of the earth, but in cohesion with the earth. We shouldn’t be fusing chemicals together to make drugs that substitute for real solutions. Rather, we should find real solutions to our problems instead of taking a drug that simply acts as a short-term band-aid.
So off I went to search for these miracles and I came across CBD. I was like, “What?! You can benefit from the healing effects of cannabis without getting high?! Time to share this with the world!” And here I am 😉
Painkillers vs. Vitamins
Back pain, neck pain, migraines, headaches, chest pain, gut pain, joint pain… These ailments cause us to want a painkiller. We want the pain gone, and we want it gone today.
Certain people know this and sell a lot of different things that claim to do a lot of different things. Many medications rely on the placebo effect instead of their actual ability to heal you, which gives you an idea how powerful your mind really is.
It’s important to find painkillers that are synergistic with your body, or even better, painkillers that act as painkillers and vitamins at the same time. These kinds of painkillers are relatively rare (link to list of painkillers that double as vitamins), but they really seal the deal. It’s like a 2 for 1 package. Or a buy-1-get-1-free. Or a double dipper deal.
Double dipper deal… Something that works very well in more than one area… I might have to trademark that.
A Solution Instead of a Bandaid
Often our medications help us relieve pain, but they rarely help us heal from the inside out. This is critical when we’re battling disease; we want our bodies to completely heal us from our ailments with no strings attached.
Most of the time we do it on our own. We injure ourselves, and it heals by itself. We contract a cold, and it heals. But sometimes we develop chronic pain, usually over a long period of time, and we need outside assistance in order to return to feeling normal again.
Pain is a signal that something is fundamentally wrong. It can mean an imbalance in diet, daily activity, inflammation levels. It can mean something is “off” in your environment, that your mood is too low too much of the time, or even that your genetic predisposition to depression is more of a reality than you hoped it would be. I’m looking at you, Aaron. I’m looking at you…
It’s a signal that something needs to heal, change, be modified, added, and/or removed. Once we decide to take action there are a variety of things we can do, but the best thing to do is almost always unique to your situation. This is why none of what I say substitutes as professional medical advice. Well, that, and the fact I’m not a doctor.
But I suspect you’re reading this because you’ve tried various “solutions,” none of which have worked for you. Perhaps you’ve heard of big pharma but haven’t tried their products because you hear too many bad things about them. I feel you, big pharma hasn’t been very helpful to me, but a couple of other things have been extremely helpful to me, and CBD is one of them.
Why? Because of the way CBD interacts with your body. When you ingest CBD (or any other cannabinoid) it binds to CB1 and CB2 receptors that lay in your central nervous system (CNS) and your immune system. These receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system, and a healthy ECS helps you sleep, think, concentrate, perhaps even digest your food.
When we’re talking about medicine we want something that integrates with the body and helps provide homeostasis. CBD does just that – it attaches to receptors that are made to receive it, and the effects it can produce are absolutely astounding.
All Around The World
People really love CBD. It helps, and some have come forward to tell their enlightening stories and share their positive experiences.
These people (and more) are incredible because they took a brave leap into an alternative medicine that a lot of people don’t have faith in. They were in pain, they did their research, and found something that helped ease their suffering.
Of course, CBD doesn’t always relieve pain, and there are a variety of reasons why it fails to do so. But after we realize what we have and take the proper steps to heal ourselves, CBD is a vital asset, one that we shouldn’t leave behind. (And of course, taste :).
The Future is Already Here
This whole “CBD thing” isn’t going to be a trend for long – it’s a realization of a natural medicine that helps relieve our pain and helps maintain harmony within our body. CBD, CBG, CBC, CNC… These kinds of products are green gold, and they deserve a spot in the medicine cabinet along with every other medicine we have.
I suspect that sound healing and energy healing will become widely accepted as well, but that’s just my speculation 😉
Conclusion
Why CBD? Because it’s a healer. It’s a healer that works from the inside out. It’s a healer that’s relatively inexpensive, and it’s a healer that works!
